L-R: Harry and Millie Bowey, hickory nut expert Sarah Naparalla.
Hickory nut expert Sarah Naparalla was on hand at the Poy Sippi Public Library on Thursday, Oct. 21, to talk about how to find, store, crack, and shell hickory nuts. There’s more to it than you’d think! Everyone was able to try their own hands at cracking and shelling and most left with a handful of nuts. Some freshly baked hickory nut cookies were served and a good time was had by all. Next up on the library’s agenda is a Nov. 11, 7 p.m. talk by Jim Leuenberger, project coordinator for the Barn Quilts of Shawano County project
