Indian Artifacts Speaker

Indian artifacts speaker Sept. 8 at the library

Author and Indian artifacts expert Paul Schanen will present a program at 7 p.m. Sept. 8 at the library.

Mr. Schanen is the co-author along with David Hunzicker of Native American Artifacts of Wisconsin (2013), a book designed to bridge the gap between the professional and amateur archaeologist. Mr. Schanen has spent more than 20 years researching and documenting sites all over Central Wisconsin. Eventually, Paul went on to study Anthropology and Geography at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point. While in Stevens Point, Paul worked on a number of archaeological dig sites and spent countless hours working in the Regional Archaeology Center where he handled, identified, and preserved thousands of artifacts from around the Badger State. Since leaving school, Mr. Schanen became keenly aware of the need for a Wisconsin-specific Native American artifact guide.

Attendees are invited to bring along any of their own artifacts so that Mr. Schanen can provide more information about them.
